AWS Governance

AWS Tagging and Infrastructure Management

Tagging is one of the simplest ways to make AWS ownership, automation, and cost control easier to operate.

Tags create operating leverage

Useful tags connect resources to owners, environments, cost centers, schedules, and lifecycle rules. Without that context, every cleanup or optimization effort becomes slower and riskier.

The operational standard

A good tagging model should be simple enough to follow, consistent enough to automate against, and visible enough that exceptions are easy to find. That is why SkySaver treats tagging as part of CloudOps, not as a finance-only convention.

How SkySaver applies it

Diagnostics often surface missing ownership tags, unclear environment labels, and resources that cannot safely be scheduled or retired because context is missing. Fixing that foundation makes later savings work much more durable.
